The journey through sound
Josh Forner is a two-time Australian Songwriting Contest short-listed artist, originally from Melbourne, who has shared the stage with heavyweight names like Courtney Barnett, Emilee South, Skyscraper Stan, The Weeping Willows, Anna Cordell, Tash Sultana, and Marlon Williams. His sound has evolved to be richly emotive and vocal-driven, while still harbouring the dark elements of early works, subtly blending a more pop-focused approach to his newer arrangements.

From tragedy to triumph: a musical evolution
Forner released his first album, the 11-track full-length LP, ‘Leading to Nowhere,’ in March 2013, combining stories of love, heartbreak, young adult fantasy, social conscience, and self-proclaimed “tragedy-folk.” His multitude of life experiences have become evident in the next phase of his songwriting, which culminated in a move to Adelaide in early 2020. He continues to work towards the creation and release of his second full-length album, ‘A Crooked Point of View.’

The heart of the craft
Josh's passion and structure comes mainly from life experiences, with the occasional fantasy scape thrown in. The creative outlet results in a catharsis and a desire for deep personal connections. This commitment to emotional honesty and storytelling is what makes his music resonate deeply with listeners.
"The passion not just to create, but to absolve emotional experiences through song."
